Obinna C. U. Adumanya, Ph.D. is a distinguished biochemist, scholar, and academic leader, currently serving as Reader in Biochemistry and Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at the University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Umuagwo, Imo State, Nigeria.
He earned his B.Sc. in Biochemistry from Imo State University, Owerri, and both his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Biochemistry from the University of Port Harcourt. His doctoral research, titled “Phytochemistry, Biochemical, Haematological and Antimalarial Properties of Salacia senegalensis Leaves,” made a landmark contribution to the scientific understanding of the plant’s haematopoietic and antimalarial potential. This work has expanded global interest in indigenous phytotherapeutics and their application in malaria management and public health.
Adumanya has authored over thirty peer-reviewed scientific publications and has presented extensively at national and international conferences, earning recognition for his rigorous scholarship and translational research impact. With more than twelve years of teaching experience, he has delivered a broad spectrum of undergraduate courses across Nigerian universities and tertiary institutions, while successfully supervising numerous student research projects.
Beyond teaching and research, Dr. Adumanya is a proven academic administrator and institutional leader, having served on multiple strategic and governance committees within the university system.
